Remember the story of the boy throwing starfish back into the sea after a storm has washed millions of them up onto the beach? A passing man says, 'what you're doing, it doesn't matter, there's millions of them'. 'It matters to this one', say the boy as he throws back another.

A man according to my heart! Jack-of-all-trades-and-good-enough-at-them-all is the no.1 blessing in confused situations. Cheers!

Incredible story Anna. There are so many organizations with a hand out to support Ukraine and I want to help. What is the best way to contribute - which organization (s)?

Now this is the kind of comment I like to receive! All the groups I write about are in need of funding, and where they have a donation link, I include it. However, I see that I included Stella Pax's donation link when I posted about them accompanying UAU on a mission, but didn't add it to this post, so I have now done so. I always urge people to donate to independent volunteers (who have shown themselves to be trustworthy) rather than large organisations, because in my opinion they are much more effective. So Pete is a very good cause, as is UAU. On the other hand, while I sometimes support Western friends, especially when I write about them, I believe it's best of all to support Ukrainians themselves. Above I mentioned Masha and her car Zhorzhik; Zhorzhik is a lot less luxurious than Mary-Lou - parts are literally held on with zip ties - so Masha would be a very good choice. My post about her work is here: https://annabowles.substack.com/p/supplying-the-front-lines-masha-the. If you prefer a completely humanitarian cause, the Big Family shelter (also see some of my previous posts, for my time volunteering there) is a great one. https://throughthewar.org/
